FAO has developed a four year Regional Fisheries Livelihoods Programme for South and Southeast Asia (RFLP) to be implemented in six countries in the region (Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Timor-Leste, and Viet Nam). The main aim of this programme is to strengthen capacity among participating small-scale fishing communities and their supporting institutions towards improved livelihoods and sustainable fisheries resources management. The programme is built on themes covering mechanisms and measures for:- co-management for sustainable utilization of fishery resources;- improved safety and vulnerability reduction for fisher communities;- improved quality of fishery products and market chains;- income diversification opportunities;- facilitated access to microfinance; and- regional sharing of knowledge and policy based on the outcomes of country processes.The programme office will be located at the FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (FAO/RAP) in Bangkok, Thailand.
